Assistance & Therapy Dogs
Assistance and therapy work asks more of a dog than obedience does. The dog has to stay neutral in chaos, hold behavior for long stretches, and perform tasks reliably under stress.
We build the program around the handler’s actual needs and the dog’s temperament, starting with a candidacy assessment — because not every dog is suited to this work, and it is kinder to know early.
From there: foundation obedience, public-access manners, neutrality around people, dogs, and equipment, and task training specific to the role.

The fine print
- Canine Nation trains dogs and coaches handlers. We are not a certifying or registering body, and no US law recognizes a national service-dog registry.
- Public access rights under the ADA attach to the task-trained dog and handler, not to any certificate. Beware of anyone selling one.
- Not every dog passes candidacy. If yours does not, we will tell you rather than take the contract.

Yes. Behavior Modification is built for fear, reactivity, and aggression. Some of those dogs do best inside a Board & Train where we control the environment all day.
