Our commitment
We build this site to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. That means it should work with a keyboard alone, with a screen reader, at 200% zoom, and for people who prefer reduced motion.
What we have done
- Text and interface colours meet AA contrast ratios against their backgrounds.
- Every interactive element is reachable by keyboard and shows a visible focus ring.
- Form fields have persistent labels, and errors are announced, described in words, and tied to the field they belong to.
- Images that carry meaning have alternative text; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Animation is disabled automatically when your system asks for reduced motion.
- A skip link jumps past the navigation to the main content.
Known gaps
The embedded Google map is a third-party component we do not control. Everything the map conveys — our address, directions link, and hours — is also available as text on the contact page.
How we test
Every page in this build is checked with an automated audit covering heading structure, image alternative text, form labelling, and link integrity. Colour combinations are calculated against the WCAG contrast formula rather than eyeballed — two colours in our original brand palette failed and were darkened before launch. Keyboard operation and the off-canvas mobile menu are tested in a real browser, including whether hidden navigation stays out of the tab order.
Assistive technology we test against
Pages are checked with VoiceOver on Safari and with keyboard-only navigation in Chrome. That is not exhaustive — no small business tests every screen reader — but it covers the two paths that catch the majority of real failures. Landmarks, heading order, and form labelling are structured so that any conforming screen reader can navigate the page in a sensible order.
Accessibility beyond the website
If getting to us or moving around the property is a barrier, tell us before you visit. The facility sits on a working ranch with gravel and uneven ground in places. We can arrange to meet you somewhere easier on the property, bring the dog to you, or run a consultation by phone or video instead. None of that costs extra and you do not need to justify the request.
Third-party content
Two components on this site come from outside our control: the embedded Google map on the contact page, and the web fonts. The map is the known gap named above. The fonts are loaded with a swap behaviour so text remains readable while they download, and the page never renders blank waiting on them. Should either dependency degrade, no information on this site becomes unreachable — every address, phone number, price, and program detail exists as plain text in the page itself.
